Molly Horses
Noise-punk quartet Molly Horses formed in 2023, entering Los Angeles’ formidable scene of experimental music with a sense of gusto and debut single “Beatty,” which first introduced their resonating theme of razor-sharp distortion and deadpan desperation. After the follow-up single “King Duntalk” in 2024, the band signed with Solid Brass Records for the release of their EP, “Clang Clang,” in July 2025. Inspired by the late, great, Steve Albini– vocalist/guitarist Harry James Hook and lead guitarist Cormac Brown assembled Train Song, the home studio where they self-record and produce with drummer Tim Wright and bassist Malcolm Watts.
Despite forming in Los Angeles, the entire band claims East Coast roots; Hook and Brown previously cut their teeth together in Portland, Maine outfit Fon Fon Ru and Wright as a founding member of Baltimore’s Wilderness. After relocating to California, Brown met Watts at a cocktail bar where the two worked together long enough for Brown to discover he was a fellow Portland export. Regularly circuiting LA’s most beloved rooms and DIY-spaces, the band remains in-demand as they continue to develop their debut full-length release.
New Constellations
In the 5 years since New Constellations released their debut single, “Hot Blooded,” vocalist Harlee Case and guitarist/producer Josh Smith have established a new normal. The Portland-based indie-pop outfit have catapulted from DIY-rooms and buzzy hometown shows to selling out a headline North American tour; all before the release of their first full length album, “It Comes In Waves,” out via Nettwerk May 15.
Hearts on their sleeves, the two are as galvanizing as ever, dancing through fire but never hardening. Tenderness is essential to their approach; alongside Smith’s hypnotically hooky post-glam guitar melodies, Case’s vocals are fluttery and vulnerable as she delivers sincere testaments of love and perseverance wrapped in satisfyingly undeniable charm. Their stage presence exuberates a warmth that could only be forged through a lifetime of friendship, Josh having recorded Harlee’s first demo in his childhood bedroom when they were 14 before officially coming together and forming as a band 10 years later.
With a slew of singles already cementing them as dewy pop phenoms, it’s difficult to predict all that’s to come for the band once the debut album is released, but if anything’s for sure, New Constellations’ future is bright.
